Public audiences, heritage partners and community organizations will once again gather at Albany’s Yellow House on the Hill to explore the Capital City’s fascinating history on May 1st from noon to 5:00 p.m.
And what better era to delve into this year than Albany’s Gilded Age?
From exuberant architecture and industrial tycoons to bluebloods, immigrants and labor unrest, we look forward to an afternoon of “digging in.”
You can expect scholar’s talks, special tours, costume installations, period music, presentations on Cherry Hill’s underrepresented Gilded Age stories, hands-on activities exploring “Getting Dressed in the Gilded Age” and “The World in Your Parlor, the Stereoscope, a Gilded Age ‘Virtual Reality’ Experience,” and a teaser performance of one scene from Swept Clean, an original play set at Cherry Hill in 1884.
More information- included a schedule of the days activities- to follow.
